Pretty sure I can name every song each track is derived from on his new record.  At least sections within each track.  I suppose it’s simply an extension and reinterpretation of a tradition, from a man who fell in love with all those records.  Not unlike myself.  Traditional styles are based on idioms, a set of practices, gestures, progressions, riffs, styles, rhythms, idioms and any reappropriation of them requires a certain drawing from that pool.  But damn, son, what a cheese ball.  And he needs female backup singers.  His own vocals multitracked just makes it sound like a goofy queen arrangement.
